Lantern Services aims to be a safe, comfortable place where people can have open non-judgmental conversations about substance use. Our hope is to reduce the stigma involved with substance use, allowing people to ask questions and receive help if needed. This initiative will give individuals the information they need to make informed decisions regarding their health.
We use a variety of instruments - Raman spetrometer, fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer, gas chromatography - mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and fentanyl strip tests
With these technologies we can determine the major components and cuts as well as detect the presence of fentanyl in the submitted sample
NOTE: There are limitations to these technologies and a disclaimer and limitations will be read to ALL service users
Please visit substance.uvic.ca for further information on the technology and research
